The All Progressives Congress (APC) at the weekend pleaded with former governor of Abia State, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, to join its fold. Dr Kalu , a former presidential candidate, ruled the state between 1999 and 2007 . He is now a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and a chieftain of APC led a top delegation to Kalu’s Abuja home on Saturday to persuade him to dump PDP for APC.
The meeting which lasted for about four hours, was held behind closed doors. It was the second time in less than a month that a stalwart of APC would hold a private meeting with the former governor to lure him to the opposition party.
