The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has appealed to the Federal Government to evolve better strategies to combat attacks by herdsmen, Boko Haram and gunmen in northern Nigeria.

The appeal was part of resolutions reached at the end of the first National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the body, in Abuja on Wednesday.

"The NEC of CAN expresses grave concern about the security challenge that has continued to face us as a nation and Christians in particular," a communique ready by the General Secretary of CAN, Rev Musa Asake said.

"The Federal Government should come up with an efficient and enduring system that can overwhelm the resurgence of Boko Haram, gunmen and Fulani herdsmen.

"From Borno, Yobe and Adamawa to Plateau, Nasarawa, Benue and Kaduna States, the story is the same.

CAN therefore, appealed to the Federal Government to take decisive steps to address the ugly trend.

According to the body, the Federal Government must remain resolute and focused in containing the challenges.
