The Fresh Democratic Party is set to drag the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to court for non-recognition.

The party said that it would seek an injunction to stop INEC from conducting the forthcoming general elections due to the party's non-inclusion at the just-concluded Anambra gubernatorial election.

Mr Kola Dopamu, Legal Adviser of the party, said that the party would also ask the court to stop INEC from conducting elections in Ekiti and Osun States due to its refusal to recognize the party.

Dopamu said that INEC's refusal to allow the party participate in the gubernatorial election in Anambra was against the judgement of the Federal High court, Abuja.

"Our party was formed on the principle of pacificism, which means we always seek to settle disputes on grounds of justice rather than force. One would have expected that INEC being a democratic institution would give effect to the judgement and allow FRESH Democratic Party participate at the Anambra election.

"Before the conduct of the last gubernatorial election in Anambra, our party members in the state who were interested in contesting were disappointed that FRESH party's name was missing", he said.

"Now, the Osun and Ekiti States elections are approaching. thousands of our supporters in these states are itching and eager to participate. We think what should be targeted is a concept of organic and not just mechanic democracy that preserves the rule of law, separation of powers that is participatory and pluralistic", he said.
