NAIJ - According to Naij.com, the former FCT Minister, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has blamed Nigeria's 'backwardness' on the late President Umaru Yar'Adua and Gov. Patrick Yakowa of Kaduna state.

He blamed both past heroes of selecting ineffective deputies, which he said has plunged the nation into the mire of terrible governance when they took over.

He reportedly said this in an Hausa political phone-in programe on DITV?Alheri Radio on Saturday in Kaduna state.

He said, instead of behaving like the antecedents and selecting a running mate he could manipulate, he chose Barnabas Bantex after thorough consultation, considering him to be someone who can take over from him in case of any contingency.

He allegedly said: “The crisis of underdevelopment and non-performance that we are experiencing at the federal level and Kaduna state will not have arisen if the right calibre of running mates were chosen from the very beginning”.

Also: “the people of the state have not seen anything on the round.” He pointed out that the projects in states like Kano, Katsina, Zamfara and Nasarawa are visible for all to see.

“The few of the projects that the government has executed are so inflated and shoddily done that they do not justify the money that was spent on them,” the former Minister pointed out.
