On Monday, the Rivers State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja dismissed an application filed by Governor Nyesom Wike seeking the dismissal of the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress's candidate in the April 11 governorship election in the state, Dakuku Peterside.
According to THIS DAY, Wike had filed the petition praying for the dismissal of the petition challenging his victory at the poll on the grounds that Peterside failed to pay the prescribed as fee for the issuance of the pre-hearing notice.
Dismissing Wike’s petition,the tribunal held that the application for issuance of pre-hearing notice was not part of documents for which a filing fee must be paid as prescribed in paragraph 37(4) of the 1st Schedule to the Electoral Act.
