The first civilian governor of Osun and serving senator, Isiaka Adeleke, is dead.

He died in the early hours of Sunday at a private hospital in Osogbo after succumbing to a protracted ailment.

Here are few things you need to know about the Ede-born Senator:

•He was born on January 15th, 1955

•He was the first executive governor of Osun‎

•He was a two-term senator

•‎ His father late Ayoola Adeleke was a Senator.

•His born, Esther Adeleke, was an Ibo woman.

•He attended ‎Christ Church School, Enugu

•He also attended ‎Ogbomoso Grammar School.

• He had a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master’s degree In Public Administration.

•He was a former chairman, Governing Council, Nigerian Export Promotion Council

•He was Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council, University of Calabar, Nigeria.

•His popular nickname - Serubawon (a man feared by his adversaries) was adopted ‎because of his unusual political style of coming from behind to defeat oppositions.

•He ‎established the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.

•He also established the Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke.

‎•He completed the building of the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC).

•In 2007, he contested and defeated Mudasiru Hussein ( who had spent two terms in the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2007 as a member of the Alliance for Democracy (AD).

•In 2011, he contested and lost against Mudasiru Hussein.

•In 2014 when he joined APC, Hussein's ticket was handed to him. He went to defeat Olasunkanmi Akinlabi of the PDP.
