The Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kogi State, Sam Uhuotu has been suspended by the State Executive Committee, SEC.

The suspension, which came after a vote of no confidence was passed on Uhuotu, was contained in a letter addressed to him, dated September 29 and signed by 30 out of the 37 SEC members.

The members, at a meeting held at the secretariat of the party in Lokoja, the state capital on Thursday, accused Uhuoto of violating the provisions of Chapter 10, Section 58 (1a, b, c, d and h) of the constitution of the party.

According to the members, the embattled chairman had deliberately refused to call the meeting of SEC since he assumed office, adding that he hardly come to the office in Lokoja from his Abuja base.

Speaking on behalf of the state executive committee of the party, Mohammed Muhammed, who is the party chairman for Lokoja Local Government Area, said a committee had been constituted to meet with all tiers of leadership of the party to prevent the decision to degenerate into crisis.

He said the committee would meet with the various tiers of leadership in order to make the PDP regain its lost glory in the state.
