Politics List of Things Causing Bad Blood in APC Ahead of National Convention

According to reports from Thisday, trouble is brewing in the APC as the party's national convention draws nearer.

The convention has been fixed for April 2017 with a definite date yet to be set. However, elements in the party are reportedly making different moves, and power tussle that's causing bad blood amongst members.

• Jostle to occupy vacant NWC positions.

• Plot to remove some NWC members. This is causing these NWC members to develop cold feet, and they may see that the convention is canceled altogether. Imo State Governor Okorocha, speaking on behalf of APC governors, had expressed the need to rejig the NWC

• Other party members are not happy with the NWC for dragging the convention issue for long and for not agreeing on a fixed date to hold the event. The last meeting dragged on for two days with no concession reached.

• Some state governors are willing to withdraw members of the APC NWC who are from their states.

• The plot to replace the National Chairman, Chief Odigie Oyegun, with the former governor of Edo State, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole.

• The move to replace the Board of Trustees with Elders Forum. This which will require the party’s constitution to be amended.

• Tussle to occupy other national positions in the party.
