Former President of the Court of Appeal Justice Ayo Isa Salami yesterday said his feud with former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Aloysius Katsina-Alu and the National Judicial Council (NJC) was because he refused to pervert the course of justice.
Speaking in Abuja at the unveiling of a book in his honour titled ‘Salami: Through Life and Justice,’ the first since his two and half years suspension and subsequent retirement on October 15, Salami accused Katsina-Alu of cajoling him to disband the Sokoto Appeal Panel on February 8, 2010 on the grounds that a petition was written against members of the panel alleging leakage of the judgment.
“Ironically, the petitions in question only emerged on the 15th of February, 2010 seven days after I had unequivocally informed the CJN that I would not direct a competent court on what its judgment should be,” he said.
