The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) strike has caused widespread disruptions across various sectors in the country. The strike, declared in response to the removal of petrol subsidies, has led to the closure of banks, hospitals, courts, and government offices.

In Kaduna State, numerous banks shut down, leaving stranded customers outside their doors. While some branches in Delta offered partial compliance, in Jigawa, various government secretariats and institutions were closed, with fewer people on the streets. The NLC secretary in Jigawa emphasized that the strike aimed to address the hardship caused by the subsidy removal, not oppose it, and urged the government to find lasting solutions.

In Edo State, the strike paralyzed activities at state secretariats, the Central Hospital, courts, and other public and private places. NLC state chairman, Comrade Odion Olaye, highlighted the strike's total compliance, affecting government parastatals and the transport sector.

This nationwide strike underscores the NLC's determination to convey its concerns to the federal government regarding the subsidy removal's adverse effects. Despite some divisions between labor unions, the NLC asserts its capacity to effect change and emphasizes that it will continue its strike until the government addresses the issues raised.

The strike has disrupted daily life and raised awareness about the challenges posed by the removal of petrol subsidies, reflecting growing concerns among the Nigerian workforce
