Nigeria's council of state may today approve the postponement of the February 14 presidential elections.

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and the main opposition, the All Progressives Congress, APC are both against the postponement of the polls.

However, based on a report by THIS DAY, National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki, will be wooing the council of state and encouraging them to postpone the election because the country is not ready.

If the Council of State endorses a postponement of the polls, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC would have no choice than to accede.

Nigeria's council of state comprises of the President, Vice-President, all former Presidents, all former Heads of the Government of the Federation; all former Chief Justices of Nigeria; President of the Senate; Speaker of the House of Representatives; all the Governors of the states of the Federation; andAttorney-General of the Federation.

With the people making up the council of state, I don't think it's possible they'll agree to the postponement.
The truth is that INEC are probably not ready for the elections and also the security forces are not ready for the election. But it will be a brave man to tell Nigerians that the elections will be postponed for security or PVC issues.

Not sure what the difference would be... we are always late for everything!
