Coach Samson Siasia has made two changes to the Nigeria U23 team that will face Senegal at the semi final of the CAF U23 Championship in Dakar on Wednesday.
Tiongoli Tombra replaced suspended E. Azubuike O. for the game, while Taiwo Awoniyi has also been ruled out due to injury and Siasia and his boys are expecting a tough challenge later today.
Two teams that made it to the final of the championship have automatically qualified, while the third team will fight to win the 3rd place match to earn an Olympics ticket, meanwhile, coach Siasia has lamented that he will miss Azubuike in the game.
“Our captain (Azubuike Okechukwu) is out, but he is just one person,” Siasia told Caf website.
“He has made big contribution to our game and we will miss it. We came here with 21 players, and this is a moment for others to take opportunity and make the best out of it.”
Commenting on the clash against the Cubs of Terrenga in Dakar, Siasia hopes his side wins to secure a place at the Rio 2016 Olympics.
“This game was supposed to be the final. Coming at this time of the competition, there is nothing we can do about it
“We have come this far and we want to make sure we qualify. It will be a difficult game and both teams have to play well,” he concluded.
