Metro Nigerian Army Arrests 486 Suspected Boko Haram Members in Abia



The Nigerian army has arrested about 486 suspected members of the boko haram terrorist group. The suspects who were intercepted by men of the 144 Battalion of the Nigerian Army stationed at Asa in the Ukwa West Local Government area of Abia State were in a moving in a convoy of 33 buses.

According to Daily Independent, among those arrested were 8 females.

Addressing newsmen on the arrest, Base Commander of the 144 Battalion, Lieutenant Rasheed Omolori, said the suspects claimed to be on a joint hunt in the state. According to Omolori, the suspects were aged between 16-24.

The Base commander said that it was the size of the convoy that triggered off suspicion of the security operatives in the state. He further added that during questioning, none of the suspects knew their final destination.
