Nigeria - President of the United States, Barrack Obama in a press statement yesterday congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his emergence as the president and Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces of the federal republic of Nigeria.
President Obama said that the American government would continue to build on the US-Nigeria relationship which began in 2010, stressing that he should not relent in his effort to ensure that Nigeria remains united, Leadership reports.
He also lauded the former president, Goodluck Jonathan, for his sportsmanship during the presidential election which he lost to Buhari.
He also said the maturity displayed by Jonathan during the announcement of the March 28 presidential election averted post election political crisis in Nigeria.
