On Wednesday, the Ogoni people of Rivers state reaffirmed their loyalty to Governor Rotimi Amaechi.

Speaking on behalf of the Ogoni people in Port Harcourt, Hon.Leyii Kwanee, Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, disclosed that the Ogonis have are solidly in support of Amaechi and the Pro-Amaechi, Save Rivers Movement, (SRM) and the group’s rally at Bori, headquarters of Khana Local Government Area, last weekend.

Kwanee said, "the Abuja camp did everything within their ambit to discourage the Ogoni support including intimidation through violence. The Ogonis turned down their counsel because those leaders do not have any plan for the Ogoni people and are unreliable, but with Governor Amaechi, the Ogonis know that supporting him will be reciprocated now and anywhere he is, in the future.

"Those who are against the governor will be wondering what manner of man he is, despite being stripped of security power, he still enjoys massive support from the people, despite threats to the people’s lives, they still support him.

He further described the Governor as a reliable, courageous and trusted leader that can be counted on at all times.
