Oba Samuel Edema, the traditional ruler of Atijere community in Ilaje LGA, Ondo state has been sacked by some armed men from the neighboring community of Makun-Omi in Ogun State.
Both town share a boundary and have been fighting viciously over a parcel of land.
The federal government had intervened but things got worse on Tuesday as armed men from the Ogun community stormed Atijere, sending residents scampering for safety.
The monarch escaped via the waterways.
“As I am talking to you now, I am hiding in one of the communities in the coastal area, while our people have been displaced," he said according to Punch. "We are calling on the government and security operatives to come to our aid before it is too late
“We invited the officials of the boundary commission and they fixed a meeting between the two communities where it was resolved that the commission will meet with us on Monday November 28, 2016.
“But because of the Ondo State governorship election, we called for the postponement of the meeting.”
Police authorities say policemen have been deployed to the area to ensure peace.
