The Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) in Osun state is still shopping for a credible and popular candidate to contest the August 9 governorship election in the state.

Alhaji Bakare Akomola, the party's state chairman said the party would field a popular candidate who would be able to put a good fight to dislodge the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state.

He said the party was yet to decide on who would be its flag bearer for the poll.

"We don’t just want to embrace anybody as our candidate for the election. We have our posters all around but with no particular candidate on it. Many people have been coming to us, but as a party we are not just looking for any candidate as our flag bearer.

"We need a recognised and serious minded person before we can say we have a candidate for the election. We are not desperate to have one but by the time we have one and people hear his name they will have no option than to vote for the party,’’ Akomola said.

He said that officials of the party had been moving from one local government to another to sensitize the people on the party’s manifesto and programmes.
