Professor Yemi Osinbajo, the VP-elect has thanked God for his party's victory at the presidential election and has appreciated Nigerians for the support they showed his party.
He has promised Nigerians that they would turn the country around for the better: “I am very happy, God has done an awesome thing.
"We already have a manifesto which clearly says that we are determined to change this country and turn its direction around.
“Our promise is to work every single day, determined to make life better for the average Nigerian.”
Although he commended the electoral process, he said there was need for improvement in the system:
“I think it was flexible enough to accommodate a lot of the issues and problems that came up,” he said. “There is a long way to go in getting the system to work perfectly.”
He also praised president Jonathan for conceding defeat describing it as a demonstration of maturity. “I think that will set an example which would perhaps provide some kind of guide to others as to what to do in situations such like that.
"I think he provided a good example as to what to do when obviously you find out that you lost an election. The right thing to do is to congratulate the victor and I think the President did the right thing.”
