Wayne Rooney has been left out of Manchester United’s squad,for the Community Shield game against Wigan Athletic.
Though the club says it is due to a shoulder injury,there are reports that it could not be far from the ongoing transfer saga,that has seen Rooney signify his intention to move to Chelsea.
The England international trained with United’s reserves both on Thursday and Friday,but was not certified fit enough to play against Wigan.
Rooney has only featured once for United in the pre-season,and seems to pick an odd injury in any of his scheduled return.
The 27-year old missed Rio Ferdinand’s testimonial against Sevilla on Friday, having suffered the injury during a behind-closed-doors match nine days ago.
But he was called up for England’s friendly against Scotland at Wembley on Wednesday,and the striker publicly thanked manager Roy Hodgson for his “faith and support” in a message on his Facebook account on Friday.
“Can’t wait to join up with the England squad and hopefully play in a competitive match, they always are against Scotland,” Rooney wrote.
“Big thanks to Roy Hodgson for selecting me and showing his faith and support, appreciate it.”
Rooney was believed to have told his teammates that he will be joining Chelsea,so do you think United will let him get his wish?
