European football governing body,UEFA,have shortlisted three players for the 2012/2013 football player of the season.
The trio of :Barcelona’s Lionel Messi,Bayern Munich’s Franck Ribery and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo were the players listed for the award.
The final three players were selected via a compiled votes from journalists from each of UEFA’s member national associations.
Borussia Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski came fourth,while Bayern’s Arjen Robben placed fifth on the list.
The winner of the award will be announced in a live vote during the Champions League group stage draw,which will be held in Monaco on August 29.
Barcelona’s Andres Iniesta is currently the holder of the award,which he won last year,but he did not make the final shortlist this year.
The final three players,played key roles for their clubs last season,while Lionel Messi and Cristaino Ronaldo shattered the record books with goals,Ribery on his part helped Bayern to winning the treble.
The other players and how they are ranked according to accumulated points are:
4 Robert Lewandowski (POL) – Borussia Dortmund (80 points)
5 Arjen Robben (NED) – FC Bayern München (55)
6 Thomas Müller (GER) – FC Bayern München (51)
7 Gareth Bale (WAL) – Tottenham Hotspur FC (48)
8 Bastian Schweinsteiger (GER) – FC Bayern München (34)
9 Zlatan Ibrahimović (SWE) – Paris Saint-Germain FC (27)
10 Robin van Persie (NED) – Manchester United FC (24)
