Alhaji Umaru Muhammadu Maizabura believes that Borno state deserves to produce Nigeria's next senate president.
According to DAILY POST, Maizabura has called on the incoming All Progressives Congress (APC) government and members of the National Assembly to concede the position of the Senate president to the people of the North-east and Borno state in particular.
He said, ''for equity, fairness and justice, the position of the Senate president should be zoned to the North-east, as since the inception of democracy 16 years ago, the region has not produce a principal officer of the National Assembly such as Speaker and Senate president, hence the need for the incoming 8th senate to concede the position for us''.
''We have a credible and qualified candidate such us Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume who will competently head the senate and the position will also help the region in the post insurgency reconstruction and rehabilitation''.
