The Media Office of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said that the ex-number two citizen was not the one being accused of sponsoring a campaign of calumny against the military as alleged by the Defence Headquarters.
The clarification by Atiku’s office is in reaction to a statement issued Friday by the DHQ and published by iReports-ng.com. Though Atiku was not specifically mentioned in the military’s statement as stated in our report but security sources contacted in Abuja fingered him. A statement today by veteran journalist, Shehu Garba who heads the ex-VP’s media office said “I write to object to your running story on the alleged role of H.E. Atiku Abubakar in the plot to smear the Nigerian military.”
