Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama, Archbishop, Catholic Archdiocese of Jos, has urged politicians to always forgive one another while they alive for God to accept them when they are dead.

Kagaima gave advice on Thursday in Zawan-Jos at the burial of Chief Michael Bot-Mang, former governor of Plateau.

The Archbishop, who is also the President,Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, told them to learn to make up with one another after fierce politician battle.

Politics is not about heaven and earth, politics is transient, politics comes and do not mortgage your relationship with God in the name politics.

He said that the late Bot-Mang had grace period and made up with those he was supposed to and was resting peacefully with the Lord.

"Sir Bot-Mang was sick for a long time; I consider the long sicknesses as one of purification, a grace moment given to him by God to prepare for the next life.

The Bishop, who said that not everyone would have that opportunity, urged the living to make up now, before it was too late.

Kagaima also advised politicians to be slow in taking serious `very literary,’ sensational stories about them in the media.

He said that while the media could transform, build and unite, they also had the capacity to complicate ruptured relationships.

Gov. Jonah Jang of Plateau, in his tribute, said that the deceased would forever be remembered for his contribution to the state as, a deputy governor and acting governor of the state.

Jang, represented by his Deputy, Mr Ignatius Longjan, said that the late Bot-Mang superintended over the state during a critical period when there was political upheaval and uprisings around Plateau.

He provided a direction for the state when it most needed it and he would be remembered for that.

"While his immediate family misses a father and a pillar, the entire Plateau will equally do same because he stood for unity which we must always preserve in memory of him,’’ he said.

Sen. Joshua Dariye, under whom Bot-Mang served as deputy governor before he acted as governor for six month when Dariye was impeached, described him as a friend.

"Bot-Mang will be remembered as somebody who did not just pass through this world but as somebody who worked and bettered it,’’ he said.

The wife of the deceased, Lydia Bot-Mang, thanked sympathisers for their show of love and appealed to them pray for the family
