After the success of the APC at the recently conducted Nigerian elections, the leaders of the party have begun to sort out the people who would surround general Muhammadu Buhari and handle the political interests of the party.
The PUNCH newspaper says that the party leaders were meeting with the men who conducted for presidency at the party's primary level - Kwankwaso, Atiku, etc.
To this effect, national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was present at the residence of former VP of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar on Thursday.
While the details of the meeting are private (it was of the closed-door variety), PUNCH speculates that "it was part of consultations to work out modalities of filing cabinet positions."
The paper's source said: "what do you expect? Our party is proactive and we want to hit the ground running by ensuring that rough edges are ironed out in good time.
“The party is run with a lot of consultations. So, it is not unusual that our leader met with another respected leader of our party privately. I do not have details of what was discussed but I have no doubt it is nothing less than how to move our dear nation forward.”
