A 22-year-old man, Eji Emmanuel, has been remanded in prison by a Magistrate’s Court for the alleged murder of one Sylvanus Okoye, 39.

The deceased allegedly attempted to have carnal knowledge of Emmanuel prompting Emmanuel to stab him in the neck with a kitchen knife on August 1,2013.

The suspect was arrested in Anambra State after police investigations revealed he ran away from Lagos after the crime.

Emmanuel said he was lured to Lagos from his village by a friend, Chukwudi, who introduced him to homosexuality. He alleged that his friend’s boss raped him twice.

He said he reported the matter at the police station who turned the case against him as he was put in detention. He claimed that after the ordeal, he approached the late Okoye to help him with money to return to Anambra State when Okoye also attempted to rape him leading to a scuffle between the duo that night which led to the death of Okoye.

The prosecutor, Asup Feddy, applied for the remand of the defendant pursuant to Section 264 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Lagos State, 2011.
