The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Nasarawa State Chapter, on Thursday announced the suspension of the indefinite strike it declared over the alleged failure by government to address workers’ welfare issues.

A statement signed by Messrs Sule Odeh-Usman and Jacob Makama, Chairman and Secretary of the NLC's joint negotiating team, and Mr Dominic Bako, the state's Head of Service, said that the suspension followed an agreement reached on Wednesday after NLC met with the state government.

The statement added that government had agreed to implement workers' demands, especially with respect to prompt promotion from Jan. 2014.

Meanwhile, a nine-man committee, chaired by Hamza Ilayo, the Commissioner of Information, has been setup to workout modalities for the implementation of the agreement reached.

According to reports, workers had resumed to their offices and were busy with their normal duties.

The strike, which started on Monday lasted for three days.
