The governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola, on Monday in Lagos has stated that the National Identification Registration would go a long way in tackling insecurity in the country.
He said that one of the lessons that we must learn was the importance of data collection, adding that ``we must pay more attention to the national identification registration’’.
According to the governor, data has many profound uses, including identification, search and rescue.
``When things like this happen, that is the kind of data that the government should be able to access and determine how many and who are involved or likely to be involved.
``It helps to delimit its area of focus and its area of activities, if we cannot tell who is a Nigeria or a foreigner, how can we begin to address the problem in a realistic way?
``So there is a lot of work to do by every one of us to stand up to be registered and documented as a beginning toward securing and protecting ourselves,’’ he said.
