Nigeria- Domestic flights in Nigeria on Thursday have been suspended due to the indefinite strike action embarked on by the National Association of Air Traffic Controllers, TV360 says.
The strike action has also left dozens of passengers stranded at the airports in Lagos, Abuja and others in Nigeria. Passengers were made to disembark from already boarded flights.
However, in spite of the industrial action, international flights are in operation.
Aviation authorities are yet to give any details on the strike action and when it will be called off.
For nearly a decade, air traffic controllers have been agitating for an upward review of their salary structure.
Earlier this year, the Association threatened to go on strike as a result of what it described as “the insensitivity of the NAMA Management to the professional and welfare matters affecting Air Traffic Controllers.”
