Recently, Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde had reportedly disclosed during an interview with Vanguard that she had been tempted to cheat on her husband several times by men she trusted as friends.

A report, which the actress had denied via social media after the news went viral.

“For the records... I have not granted any interviews to Vanguard Newspaper in years ... Thanks anyway. #Omosexy@20,” Omotola tweeted.

However, the story has taken a new turn, as the publisher, Vanguard, has responded that the story was absolutely true, and even disclosed Omotola’s husband response during the interview.

According to Vanguard, the interview was done by Ekerete Udoh for his New York-based newspaper, The Diasporan Star, in December 2009.

Ekerete Udoh disclosed how he had been granted several interviews by the Nollywood actress and in one of such, her husband Mr. Ekeinde had joined the discussion.

“My brother, I am very proud of my wife’s accomplishments and I join other well-wishers and millions of her fans to toast her success. I’m a little surprised that instead of Nigerians celebrating her appearance at the Grammys and her being the first Nollywood star to walk the red carpet, they are busy spreading tales and rumours that do not exist."

"’The key thing is that my wife respects her marital status, and in our 15-year-marriage, she has been the best woman any man could aspire to have. In spite of her stardom, at home, she is my wife. She cooks for me, takes care of the home and, above all, is a great mother to our lovely children," he said.

Now that Sunday Vanguard columnist, Ekerete Udoh, has decided to set the record straight by revealing more aspects of the story, the public is patiently waiting for Omotola’s response.

But who exactly is playing games here, Omotola or the columnist?

But all she said was that she had not granted an interview to the newspaper in years. Since this was not a Vanguard interview and it was also conducted in 2009, she is pretty much spot on. There was denial of the statement.

The story has attributable quotes..... unless Omotola's husband comes out to deny making the statement about his wife, then the columnist will have to provide audio prove.

But she did not deny the quotes in her tweet. She simply said that she had not granted an interview in year to the Vanguard. That is true as the article was not for the Vanguard and also it was done in 2009, which in my book is a pretty long time.

Or maybe she aimed a jibe at Vanguard, or possibly they both have a history.

She certainly did. I am sure she was upset that they brought out the story before here Omosexy20 tour. Then again, no publicity is bad publicity. The more you look, the less you see. A good PR team could have set this up for us to chew on :)

2009 is enough a long time to forget what you said, where and to whom. But if it's been brought out with facts, then you can't deny it any longer.
