The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State has expressed concern over attempt by some people in the state to smear its name through dubious activities.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Secretary of the party in the state, Alhaji Buba Shanu, in Gombe on Thursday.
The statement disclosed that some persons planned to use some secondary school students for a simulated ballot papers thumb-printing, which would be videotaped and purported to have been orchestrated by PDP for blackmail purposes.
''PDP wishes to clarify its position on the attempt by certain miscreants to engage students of Gombe Science Secondary School to thumb print ballot papers for them and be videotaped, for scandal. Our party, at no time, considered this as an option in winning the 2015 General Elections.
''We, as party, are completely satisfied with the results of the Presidential and Governorship Elections in Gombe state,” the statement said.
The party urged the police and other security agencies to investigate the allegation and plot to reveal the perpetrators and their sponsors.
“We condemn this unfortunate act of desperation in the strongest terms; we believe victory comes from God who gives power to whom He wills when He wills it,” it said.
