The Rivers state government has denied accusations by Governor Adams Oshiomhole that Governor Nyesome Wike is mobilizing militants to disrupt the upcoming Edo state governorship elections.
According to the state's Commissioner for Information and Communication, Dr Austin Tam-George, gov Wike and his Delta counterpart, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa, did not mobilise to rig the Edo governorship election.
In a statement issued on Friday in Port Harcourt, he said the claims by Oshiomhole that the two governors donated N2 billion to rig the election in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were false.
“Governor Wike has no links with militants in the region and anywhere in the country,” he said.
The Edo state governorship elections, formerly scheduled to hold tomorrow has been postponed by 2 weeks by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
