With the emergence of Yemi Osinbajo as Vice Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC , former Lagos Governor, Bola Tinubu has reclaimed control of the party which he worked so hard to build.
Prior to the emergence of Osinbajo, Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers state with the support of former Governor Bukola Saraki and a few other NewPDP governors who defected to the APC were becoming too powerful for the party to control. As the Governors grew in might, National leader of the Party, Tinubu decreased in influence.
The Governors' went as far as tipping one of their own, Amaechi for the VP slot after they failed to get the presidential ticket through Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso who was also a newPDP Governor.

Faced with political extinction, Tinubu who had been nursing the ambition to become Muhammadu Buahari's running mate, had to sacrifice himself in order to reclaim control of the APC.
