The minister of state for defence, Senator Musiliu Obaniko on Wednesday, responding to #APC chieftain and former Governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu's alleged attack on him on Monday over Boko Haram, said the ex-governor and 'his friends', are behind the Boko Haram menace in Nigeria.
"It is unfortunate that people like Bola Tinubu have chosen to politicize our war against the Boko Haram insurgency. To begin with, the mess we are trying to clean up was created by Tinubu's friends in the APC who promised to make Nigeria ungovernable for this administration," a statement on his facebook page said.
"If I have a political campaign, anywhere in the country to participate in, I will go there. It does not in any way affect my responsibility as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In other advanced societies, their leaders deal with their security issues without reducing it to politics. Leadership is multi-dimensional and I am combining politics with my governance responsibilities.
"I want to believe Tinubu's comments at me are a product of frustration as a result of their recent loss in Ekiti. Rather than this desperation of looking for who to blame for their political woes, politicians like him should join hands with our Government to fight what is clearly our common enemy. Real leaders think about the future of their nation, not the next election."
