According to reports in Daily Trust, the PDP in the north of Nigeria has is being decimated by a wave of defections after the failure of the party during the presidential elections.
This does not bode well for the Gubernatorial elections on the 11th April 2015.
Defections have allegedly happened at all levels of the party and in many cases involves senior politicians and party chieftains. The states affected include Gombe, Jigawa and Kebbi

Gale of defections has hit the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the party’s defeat in the March 28 Presidential election.
In Gombe state, the Majority leader State House of Assembly, Mamman Alkali, over fifty Personal Assistants and Special Assistants to Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo and thousands of PDP members yesterday defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In Jigawa state the former Governor, Saminu Turaki, the current Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Mahmud Gumel were among many who dumped the PDP for the APC at a ceremony in Gumel yesterday.
In Kebbi state, Commissioner of Commerce, Sani Yusuf joined the APC along with others.
