President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria has continued his tour of royal palaces in the country. On Monday, the President was at the palace of the Akran of Badagry in Lagos, De-Wheno Aholu Menutoyi.
After a short welcoming ceremony which involved the pouring of libation and offering of water, alligator pepper and wine by the palace chiefs, the Akran and the President proceeded into a Private chamber for a meeting that lasted for about 35 minutes.
Speaking after the meeting, President Jonathan said, "I want to thank you all for the support you have given to the government and for the peace in Badagry. Within this period, we do not get disturbing stories. This is not brought about by chance but his Majesty, his cabinet and all senior people, including the youths who have been working very hard.
"Also, for the PDP members who have come out to receive us, we thank you most sincerely.I want to thank you for this warm reception and assure you that the glorious days of Badagry will be returned.
The Akran on his part said that the meeting was special to him and the people of Badagry as he prayed for the success of Jonathan’s administration and peace for Nigeria.
Last weekend, President Jonathan visited four traditional rulers; the Ooni of Ife, Emir of Kano, Oba of Lagos and the Alaafin of Oyo.
