Ijaw leader and former Minister of Information, Chief Edwin Clark, on Wednesday said that Yoruba presently do not have a leader, adding that Asuwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other prominent persons now parading themselves as Yoruba leaders can easily be bought over.
Speaking in Abuja during a visit by South-south community leaders, chiefs and elders in the FCT, Clark said, "since the death of Chief Adekunle Ajasin, Pa Abraham Adesanya and Chief Bola Ige, no Yoruba leader has emerged. According to him, Tinubu and the others are people money can buy, but money cannot buy leadership.
The Ijaw leader also told his guests that those fighting President Goodluck Jonathan because of the 2015 elections are actually fighting God, who he said made it possible for Jonathan to become President.
"Any person fighting Jonathan is fighting God. Whatever God says you will be, that is what you will be and whoever wants to remove him (Jonathan) God will fight him. By the grace of God, Jonathan became the acting President and later President. What is yours, nobody can take it from you.
"Some people say that they must rule and if Jonathan runs (for another term) there will be bloodshed. Majority of the northerners believe in Jonathan and want him to continue, Clark added.
