Ethiopia Gets New President

The Ethiopian Palace Administration on Tuesday announced the appointment of Amb. Mulatu Teshome as new President, following the approval of the joint session of parliament on Monday.

Malatu is replacing Girma Woldegiorgis, who had retired following the expiration of his tenure.
The newly appointed President, with PhD in International law, served Ethiopia in various diplomatic missions including China, Japan, Thailand and Turkey.

He was also State Minister of Finance and Economic Development and later Minister of Agriculture.
Mulatu had also served as the Speaker of the Ethiopian House of Federation.

Malatu is expected to serve for six years or a maximum of 12 years of two terms. (NAN)
